A border collie, a developer, and an Old Norse word
Hi, I'm Daniel. I'm a developer from Sweden, and this is Milo — my 7-year-old Border Collie and the reason this app exists.
Milo is the kind of dog who needs structure. Walks need tracking, vet appointments need reminding, and training sessions need logging — Border Collies don't do "casual." After years of juggling spreadsheets, calendar reminders, and notes apps to keep up with his care, I thought: there has to be a better way.
So I built Gille. Not as a corporate product, but as something a pet parent actually needs. Every feature exists because Milo (or one of his friends) needed it.
And the name? Gille is an Old Norse word meaning "companion" or "one who serves." In Viking-age Scandinavia, a gille was also a fellowship — a community of people who looked out for each other. That felt exactly right for what this app is about: being a loyal companion to your pet, and building a community of pet parents who help each other out.
Gille (Old Norse) — companion, fellowship
Gille is free, built with love, and always will be. Because every pet deserves the best care, and every pet parent deserves a tool that actually helps.
